Tue, 7 November 2006 It was a busy week in European competition as both the Champions' League and UEFA Cup progressed into the latter rounds of their respective Group Phases. Jerrad and Trevor will discuss Liverpool's decisive win over Bordeaux as well as Manchester United's lacklustre showing in Denmark and Kaka's hat-trick for Milan against RSC Anderlecht. That little matter of Barcelona-Chelsea might also slip into the dialogue.
Chelsea's "tour of hate" continued at the weekend with a visit to White Hart Lane for a derby match with Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs' convincing continental performances have been in stark contrast to their domestic displays and the lads will explain why they, along with Newcastle, Blackburn, and Rangers, are enhancing their reputations in the UEFA Cup while lingering at mid-table at home. Trevor will break down Lyon's visit to Rennes and a top-of-the-table tilt in der Bundesliga between Schalke and Bayern Munich will also figure in last weekend's re-caps.
The guys will set up the marquee fixtures of the upcoming weekend including Liverpool's first appointment at the sparkling, new Emirates Stadium. Lille's contest with up-and-down Marseille will get some lip-service as will AS Roma's engagement at the San Siro with AC Milan and Real Zaragoza's date with Barcelona at the Nou Camp.
